Dunlop 4D 200 Tour string recommendation

I might order one of these tomorrow. What string setup works best in this stick? Is synthetic gut the way to go?

I enjoy these sticks with full poly at very low tensions (see sig), but then I've been a full poly player for the past 15 years...

I have this racquet and like BHBR17 in high 40's. I found B5E to produce a lot of spin but to be underpowered. I tried Scorpion mid 40s and it was fine, very neutral and predictable.

Ew I can't stand scorpion full bed lol. I might go full poly though...I've been using full poly for the last couple months and really enjoy it. How does bhbr feel?

Used to use it weighted up with a full bed of Cyber Flash @55lbs; worked great. What kind of player are you?

I am mostly a baseliner but I'm transitioning to an all-court game. Currently working on my volleys and overall consistency (my consistency is actually pretty decent now though). I'm 3.5-4.0 and like to take big swings on both sides.

Cyber Flash (I prefer 1.25) is a great string for that racquet imo. Plus, if you get a reel, it only costs around $4 a set.

Hmm ok maybe I'll try that. How's the tension maintenance and spin capability?

Cyber Flash is kind of a middle of the road poly. It's tension maintenance is average for a poly, as is its spin potential; more than syn gut, less than say BHBR or fresh RPM blast.

Cyber Flash can be gotten for $39.90 for a 1/2 reel. Excellent value. Because I have an 18x20 95" I had to go bulk, as the sets are a little short for getting 2 mains from one package.

Thanks. I'm ok with having to restring after 10 hours or so, but I would like to have really good control and spin capability, while also being able to hit flat.

It's not a bad choice then, although you might need to switch it out before 10 hours.

Alright well I ordered the used 4D 200 tour from TW and had a strung with topspin cyber flash @52 lbs. Really excited to have this in a few days!

Smasher08 04-15-2013 04:40 PM

Gut poly! It'll play and feel phenomenal.

NLBwell 04-15-2013 05:15 PM

Forten Thin Blend (kevlar).

BHBR has a fairly crisp feel. Polys all feel fairly similar to me, and this is a heavy, flexible racquet that I think will tend to make any string feel better. The thing about this string is that it produces sick spin and a heavy ball.

The one caution I would have about this racquet is that you have to let the racquet do the work. It is not a stick designed for people who want to flick the ball. You have to use the momentum of the racquet and not fight it. Then it will produce a heavy shot. This stick is all about plowthrough.

I thought about trying bhbr, and I may still order a set or two and just try it out.

Thanks for a heads up on this stick. This is exactly the type of racket that I want, that way I don't have to muscle the ball like I already do with my pro open. I realllllllly liked the plow of the 6.1 classic, but wanted even more. I think this is the racket I'm looking for. Plus, it'll be nice having a brand that's not very common around here :)

Mike I'm gonna take over your thread like you did mine!!! Both of my 200tours are strung @60 with Wilson extreme syn and its wicked!! But I'm always open to try new setup, I'm not the "this is my go to setup" guy.

Slippery 04-17-2013 08:31 PM

I am using a 4d 300 and my two favs so far K.B. black shark 17 mains and some micro sheep 16 cross @ 51. Also black shark mains and volkl V-Pro 16 crosses @ 48. Not a 200 but hey.

Hahaha touché my friend! I'm really excited to have my racket tomorrow. I've never used cyber flash either, so this is gonna be a whole new experience for me. I'll probably end up trying psgd in it as well as cyclone.
