HEAD. A Tragic Love Story.

Never thrown. Less than two months old. Beautiful frame. Cracked at the upper throat on a forehand winner.

Overdrive 04-15-2013 08:22 PM

You're kidding right?

It seriously cracked during a forehand winner?

Bull.

You have a warranty for it...... right? Can't you make a defective claim?

tyu1314 04-15-2013 08:22 PM

slip off your hand and hit the ground?

tyu1314 04-15-2013 08:23 PM

Hope you have your receipt.

This happens plenty of times dude..... -_-

darklore009 04-15-2013 08:36 PM

my friend had the same problem too

Andyroo10567 04-15-2013 08:47 PM

Hm.... Is it because of the shared holes....?

Not for me.

Bartelby 04-15-2013 08:52 PM

Shared holes, fragile grommets and now this report. Stay away!

My friend had two pure storm gts crack at 10 o'clock, so this is definitely common dude. Especially with these cheap new molds that are designed to save companies money.

This is why I will never pay more than $75 for one frame. Overpriced crap.

darklore009 04-15-2013 09:11 PM

I think it would perform better if it had it's old if speed mp 18x20 gromments.

Bartelby 04-15-2013 09:12 PM

Yes, the pure storm line is one where there are a lot of reports of cracking, but Babolat seems simply to dismiss these reports.

Hence another reason why I just paid $70 for a used Dunlop :D

Andyroo10567 04-15-2013 10:18 PM

Almost snagged 3 BLX Steam 100's all for $130 but 2 were already sold so i passed on the deal. All the grip sizes were 1/8's though. But heat shrink sleeve would fix that.

gino 04-15-2013 10:19 PM

Wow. Thought HEAD had a reason to completely redesign the Speed, but clearly they have some issues to handle.

Looking at the other racquet, you seem to be on to something there. I had already decided against trying one of the new Heads since I string my own racquets and don't like shared holes, this is just another reason to pass on them.

Relinquis 04-16-2013 03:26 AM

wow...

Do you string at a very high tension?

Did it crack all at once or did it happen gradually (i.e. could you tell before it happened)?

Slitch 04-16-2013 03:36 AM

My condolences...
Just contact Head and you will get a replacement.
