Bad habit

When I'm playing in a singles match I hit the ball straight to the person setting them up for an easy return. What can I do to get the ball to different spots for a harder return and making them run more?

Point with your shoulder where you want the ball to go. If you don't hit with intention, you will just hit it where he wants you to.

Play with an intention, with a location to aim at on the court.

You will have to find hitting partners who like balls hit away from them. Not in an absurd fashion, but within limits. That way, it will not appear unnatural in a match.

When serving pretend you are a baseball pitcher, and hit different types of serves to different parts of the service box

You have to try to construct points in matches. Don't just be hitting like you do when you hit around. You should aim for spots on the court and go out and hit them on every shot.

It depends. Why are the shots going there? Are you aiming at the guy? If so: stop, aim somewhere else, say... to the corner for a winner. If not, then you've got bigger problems, that is inaccuracy. No shortcuts, you need to groove your strokes more.
