Asics GR 5 or Nike Vapors?

Hey guys.
I have been playing tennis for 5 years and still haven't found the perfect fit shoe.
I am 14 years old, and i am a Size 12. My foot is pretty wide. ( E fit ) I currently am wearing Barricade 7's and they always give me blisters on hardcourt. Not to mention i hardcourt 7 days a week. People have been telling me that the vapors and the gr's are the comfiest shoes, which shoe is better for a wide fit?

Nike Air Max Cage for wide feet. If you play on HC that much and care about comfort, get the GR5 since there's the 6 month guarantee. You'll destroy the Vapor 9 very quickly, they're not durable at all.

I dont really care about the durability. What are wider, GR5 or Vapors?

Lukhas 06-09-2013 04:55 AM

They're about the same, medium. Vapors a tiny, tiny bit more in the forefoot, but tighter towards the arc and heel. GR5 medium overall.

It really sucks how there are no size 12 GR's or Vapors at a tennis shop in my city to try.
Fuarrrr out!

If you search wide shoes, Nike Air Max Cage.

MarkZepa 06-09-2013 04:11 PM

I've tried them on but they seem too tight

Edit: Sorry they were not the cages, they were the 2k12's.

Lukhas 06-09-2013 04:42 PM

Too tight? Then you're going to cry about the Vapors or GR5s, they're tighter. I have very wide and flat feet and wear orthopaedic insoles due to this, and I went half a size DOWN with the Air Max Cages. In fact, many people are going half a size down with them. I can only think about Babolat SFX right now: very comfy and (very) wide in the toe box area.

Okay thanks.

Or try K-Swiss Big Shot. It's also very wide and comes with a 6 months warranty.

Lukhas 06-10-2013 04:50 AM

^Just not the BigShot2s, they leave (washable) marks on the court.

MarkZepa 06-11-2013 03:23 AM

Does anyone know the width of the toe box of a vapor 9 size 12?

Like I said:

Length fit is true to size. Width fit is slightly wider in the forefoot, snugging up in the midfoot. Arch support fits low. No break-in required."
From my experience Babolat SFX are the widest in the toe box and very, very comfortable. The wider fit was noted in the review. I don't exacly know for the NB, but many people say so too. Air Max Cages are already winder in the toe box than the Vapors (that not the only place where they're wider in fact). You're thick headed. :-P EDIT: You can still go ask the question in the Vapor 9 thread, if you need more voices. Doubt you'll get different answers, but since you seem to want these shoes...

Say, Adidas Feather 2 CC fits larger than the Vapors, with slightly more durability and a touch lighter too. Still a lightweight shoe, won't last long.

Thank you

You might want to investigate the newer premium New Balance options. They've always offered different widths in their shoes, but they're also jumped back into the high performance market. Hard to believe that they don't have different widths available with these shoes, too.
