Minor rankings anomaly

This is just a quick question that I expect will get buried under the many troll threads on this board. A cursory glance at the rankings shows Nadal with 6895 points in 5th place. Then, in the Race rankings, he has 7000 points. Does this mean that he has earned more points in the past 6 months than in the past year? :-?

it is weired race points more than ranking pointing

tusharlovesrafa 06-16-2013 11:46 PM

LOL,it's simple LOGIC,RACE points give you the total points that you have accumulated from the beginning of the year till the last tourney played irrespective of the ranking points.Like Rafa won French open so he will get 2000 Race points, but his ranking points won't change as he won this tournament last year...so

Rafa so far has 140 points from Vina del Mar + 250 points from Brazil + 500 points from Argentina + 1000 points from Indian Wells + 600 points from Monte CARLO + 1000 points from Madrid + 1000 points from Rome + 2000 points from ROLLAND GARROS which will total to around 6700 points..I did not know the exact break up of Vina del Mar and Monte Carlo as rafa lost in the finals so i have used approximate points.ok!

Not really....

His chile tournaments points(150) are non-countable due to penalty and he got 45 points from last wimby..

7000-150+45=6895

as the year passes his zero point penalty will be removed and those 150 points will be added thats y they are included in race..

Vina del Mar doesn't count towards his ranking because of his 0 pointer penalty.

What is 0 pointer penalty?

Ohkay. So it's the ATP tournament requirements. For Masters and so forth. That makes sense. ^_^

You have to play a minimum of 4 500 tournaments in the last 52 weeks. Since he was away for 7 months, he occurred 2 0 point penalties during Tokyo and Valencia. His Vina del Mar won't count till Tokyo when one of his 0 point penalty drops off.
