Benoit Paire press conference, the courts and Wimpledon boicot for 2014.

After losing his game Paire said in the press conference "They should use the money from my fine to rebuild the courts." Carole Bouchard tweeted it: https://twitter.com/carole_bouchard/...89492267659265
With all the injuries and slips the players are seriously talking off the record about changes in wimbledon or a boicot for next year. This wimpledon and 1996 wimpledon are the 2 tournaments with the least top 10 in 3rd round. What do you people think?

r2473 06-29-2013 02:17 PM

I think they should sink every dime of Benoit Paire's fine into court maintenance. The courts will probably be made of of diamonds and gold next year.

Otherwise, Benoit Paire should make a statement by boycotting Wimbledon next year.

Every time Nadal loses on a court 'before he should lose', that court needs to be re-designed for next year. It's disgusting.

Everyone is slipping on grass. Top players are getting injured on hardcourts.

I say the tour should switch to 100% red clay courts. That should make everyone happy.

wimpledon? lols

cluckcluck 06-29-2013 02:30 PM

Sounds like a sore loser to me.

Boycott wimpledon, but let Wimbledon continue.

I can only think of one man who would be extremely happy if that happened. :)

Can you back that up with references or are you making this up yourself?

Legend of Borg 06-29-2013 02:49 PM

It's been a dodgy Wimbledon so far.

Why is his claim outlandish?

Tony48 06-29-2013 02:50 PM

What fine?

Who's that distinguished lady in your avatar?

The courts are in terrific shape. The players don't know how to move on them anymore. They've gotten used to being able to plant and change directions when off-balance. You can't plant on one foot far outside your center of gravity and change directions off of it on a grass court. The footing is not supposed to be as stable as hard courts, it's part of the game.

First streaker at Wimbledon.Don't remeber her name though.
I think she ran onto the court during the final 1996 between Richard Krajicek and MaliVai Washington.

Sounds like a lot of unfounded nonsense to me, Best to ignore this thread.

Federer says to go ahead and boycott it. Especially if your name is Nadal, Murray, or Djokovic.

Just change to 4 hardcourt tournaments, play 1 on cracked urban hardcourt, one indoor, and the US/Aussie. Real tennis
