Interesting. indeed. Just saw the firt fifteen minutes but McEnroe looks big there, bigger than he ever did on the pro courts. If wonder if it's the camera, baby fat or did he lose a lot of muscle after he went pro.
Certainly lost a lot of hair..

some good stuff, thanks for the heads up

"McEnroe, the Ty Cobb of tennis" Hadn't thought of that one before. And whatever happened to Sadry? Had forgotten about him.

Just finished watching this video. Produced in 1981, it's narrated by Bud Collins, and features Mac's career from 1978-1980. Lots of match footage from the NCAA tournament, as well as doubles with Ashe and Fleming, and pro and Davis Cup singles against Borg, Connors, Vilas, and many others.

90 minutes. A great time capsule, with the added bonus of footage of his very young, blond, and beautiful tennis playing girlfriend at the time, Stacy Margolin.

Great stuff!

This was a great bio of Mac and his early career !! Collins narration is awesome ...I love that guy !! The music was so damn cheesy though....oh well it was the late 70's early 80's. It's a shame Sadri never panned out into a more dominant player.

"Nice guys don't win in this game, oh there may be a few of them around but basically it's a sport for killers. This is kill or be killed for millions of dollars! Nobody buries you if you lose, they just forget you, and that's what the fear is."

looks like it was 4:3 and they are stretching it so there arent any black bars.

Some broadcasters have realized people are really stupid so they stretch it and broadcast it in stretch mode....

Google "november 1976 playboy". I well remember when that came out, for the Jimmy Carter interview where he admitted to "lust in the heart", but more so for Patti McGuire. Homina homina!!

Connors did all right. ;-)
