How many calories do you consume daily and how much do you exercise?

I eat around 2200-2400 and would describe my current activity level as low-moderate :-|

Jeebs 09-08-2013 12:23 PM

2000-2200, activity level moderate-high (weights 4x week, cardio 2-3x week plus tennis)

Are we talkin' High Fructose Corn Syrup calories or "normal" calories?

Cindysphinx 09-10-2013 06:02 PM

I would guess -- and it really is a guess -- that I am about 1750 calories a day. I tend not to diet or count calories, so I really do not know.

I did, however, have *two Twinkies* today.

Wait, wait! I can explain.

When my son was little, we would declare a celebration when he achieved something big in school. I also wanted my children to understand why my childhood treats tasted like. So I bought a box of Twinkies and announced we would have a "Twinkiebration" -- a celebration with Twinkies.

Something good happened yesterday, so he went to the store and bought a whole box of Twinkies to celebrate something I had done. I ate two.

As you can see, I had no choice.

Twinkies are available again?

2800-3000 calories a day

tennis 6x a week for 3 hours each time
weightlifting 4-5 time a week

torpantennis 09-11-2013 01:44 PM

2400-2800 a day. I play tennis 3-4 times a week, plus gym or other anaerobic training for 1-3 times a week. Outside of training, minimal physical effort :)

Thomas59 09-11-2013 01:51 PM

2000 calories a day, I play tennis 9 hours a week, lifting for 3 hours, and miscellaneous exercise for 3-4 hours. Current;y on a calorie deficit to lose some excess fat.

Andyroddickfan 09-11-2013 08:17 PM

Don't really count, but over 4k a day.

Thud and blunder 09-12-2013 03:44 AM

Some of these estimates look pretty far off, especially people who're training hard; I'm guessing most of these estimates are just pulled out of the air.

I am on the court an average of 2.5 hours per day and I do some fitness work every day as well. I try to get into 240 minutes of intense cardio per week and 2 or 3 full body weightlifting sessions. Plus my wife and I walk everywhere, we hate driving if we don't have to. I eat to maintain almost no deficit, for years I tracked religiously in a notebook macros and calories. Now I pretty much know it by feel.

When you tracked calories, how many did it take to maintain your weight daily?

maggmaster 09-12-2013 06:51 AM

I have a reasonable metabolism so generally it was around 14 times my lean body mass.

WildVolley 09-12-2013 07:44 AM

How are most of you tracking calories?

I ask because I'm not really sure of how much I eat or the calorie counts of various quantities of food. I think most people do not really know how much they eat in a day. Over time I must be eating the correct amount as my body mostly stays within a 10lb range and I don't need to buy new clothing.

rdis10093 09-12-2013 11:48 AM

around 1500, perhaps less on some days. I play twice a week two hours each time. sometimes a little more some times less.

r2473 09-12-2013 12:07 PM

4,000 calories a day as an average for the US? I find that hard to believe.

As our population grows older, 4th meal has completely changed its meaning, used to be calorie-free.

Some of these calorie estimations are way too low. Are you all 5'4 135? How can you guys be that active and not even top 3k?

rdis10093 09-12-2013 04:17 PM

5'10 134lbs as of five minutes ago after just eating a subway vegetarian footlong. with extra onions. love the onions.
