What is this thread?

Kalin 02-02-2014 12:27 AM

Stepanek IS a legend and it is entirely possible the back side comes in play too...

As for tennis, the OHBH rules.... stats be damned!

degrease 02-02-2014 04:35 AM

You can name legends with either BH. Connors, borg, agassi, nadal etc.. in the S+V era one hands obv dominated

HeeK_ILRF 02-02-2014 07:29 AM

one hand backhand naturally is most talented and aestetically pretty to see....that's why i talked about "legend" but maybe i should use another term...lets use for example "class"

Gasquet single hand backhand - quite probably the best and most beautiful shot in Tennis today

magnut 02-03-2014 10:06 AM

edberg and korda are the standouts for purity the modern era.

lots of good ones though.

Rosewall 02-03-2014 12:20 PM

Grigor Dimitrov and Stan Wawrinka have the best one-handed backhands in the game today IMO. So tough to make that work today, because with slower surfaces and a premium on defense, it is not as easy to end points as quickly as it was in previous eras. That single wing is not as physically stout as the forehand or two-handed backhand. Guys like Nadal will bludgeon that side until you tire and start shanking the ball.

Ken Rosewall has the greatest one-handed backhand ever IMO. What set him apart was the way he texture the ball with his slice. It was crazy to watch him move the ball around.
