fastest tennis player?

As the game continues to get faster many players are getting faster and faster. Hewitt was one known for his speed and many other players are nearly as fast or faster then him. Yet who do you think is the fastest? Id put hewitt then nadal then blake then corria

VGP 11-21-2005 05:25 PM

Safin says that he's not that fast, but I think he's wrong. Safin's pretty fast.

I'd put Blake, actually. When I've seen him play, it seems that in terms of pure speed, he's above those guys (on a hardcourt, at least.) But he's unable to hit on the run as well as the other guys can, so he's not as effective with his speed. But in terms of pure speed, he's up there.

Though it's really hard to tell on TV without any sort of measurement of speed.

And of course, on clay it would definitely be Coria or Nadal, the hardcourters lose a lot of their speed when their footing goes.

id definitely have to say mary pierce.

^ ok i hope you can tell i was kidding...........

nadal is the fastest tennis player. some of the shots this guy runs down are ridiculous.

splink779 11-21-2005 06:23 PM

Nadal Coria and Hewitt are the fastest, not sure of the order. As for Blake, head first diving for a ball and hitting a mishit passing shot off the tip of his frame and then sliding on his stomach for 10 feet should not be misconstrued for speed ;)

Safin is pretty fast and a good mover for a guy his size. Here is my list of 3 fastest guys on tour.
1.Nadal
2.Hewitt
3.Coria.

Nalby would be up there if he dropped 20 lb's. Which he could in his gut alone.

Does the ability to make your opponents move so you move less count? If so, Federer definately.

matchpoint54 11-21-2005 06:52 PM

I think Juan Carlos Ferrero is one of the fastest players.

And Agassi ;) . Nowadays Agassi on the move though... thats hard to watch.

Federer (10 characters)

joe1987 11-21-2005 07:34 PM

Yep, fed doesn't look fast but he covers alot of ground pretty quickly

LudaKrisKG 11-21-2005 08:02 PM

speed-wise
I think blake
but if watch Federer play
he get's to every shot with such ease
it's like he can manipulate time
that has to count for something

legolas 11-21-2005 08:09 PM

gotta say coria

pero 11-22-2005 01:09 AM

nadal, he is fastest

pero 11-22-2005 01:12 AM

nadal, when he was playing itf junior tour he used to run every day for at least half an hour, although he has playd match that day and has another one to play next day, all playes were going to hotel to take a rest and he got out running, now results are visible (and he also has lots of problems with his knees)

ssuHeartsRivald 11-22-2005 01:39 AM

safin isn't so fast that his tall body less support to move so quick.
the fastest player on tour is coria, the second is hewitt.
