Grosjean vs. The Kief

Should be a good match that I dont think they are showing on ESPN... I say Kief takes it but I want Grosjean to win.

rilokiley 01-24-2006 01:26 PM

Grosjean > Kiefer
Frenchie has had better results in slams.
Also I think he will win, that's the deciding factor.

oscar_2424 01-24-2006 04:27 PM

they are one set a piece

Noelle 01-24-2006 05:46 PM

Kiefer is down 1-4 in the fourth set, but he won the third. I think this will go to a fifth.

Shabazza 01-24-2006 06:06 PM

broke back 4*:5 it's an intensive match - no high quality but mentally exhausting

Shabazza 01-24-2006 06:08 PM

phew 5 all after 0:30 down
Kiefer's first service is none existent in this match

Shabazza 01-24-2006 06:18 PM

and it goes to a TB after Kiefer saved a SP

Andy Hewitt 01-24-2006 06:26 PM

Oui! 5th set!

Shabazza 01-24-2006 06:32 PM

now going into a 5th

Shabazza 01-24-2006 07:05 PM

...those linesman today don't have an easy work... 3:2 Kiefer in the 5th

Shabazza 01-24-2006 07:45 PM

Ok this match has it all: antics, questionable linecalls, great points etc. 6 all I really don't know who will win it now...

Shabazza 01-24-2006 08:05 PM

OK, there will be a lot of talk about this match
Kiefer wins 6:4 0:6 6:4 6:7 8:6 this was a perfect example on how to win "ugly" ;)

Didn't show this match over here, but i've been following the score and comments on the plays and i agree that Kiefer's action (thrown racquet) will attract a lot of attention in the press.

This has ruined my predictions now. I was correct about Baghdatis, Nalbandian and (most possibly) Federer and Grosjean was my other pick. Ah well...

Andy Hewitt 01-24-2006 09:00 PM

Poor Grosjean =(. But on the bright side, Grosjean has absolutely NO chance of beating Federer. So it all works out.

I think Kiefer read the Brad Gilbert's book "Winning Ugly"

rilokiley 01-24-2006 10:35 PM

anyone have a video clip of this little incident?

equinox 01-25-2006 05:46 AM

BG would not -- and did not -- endorse Kiefer's behavior. As someone said in another thread, there's a difference between winning ugly and winning dirty.

Gilbert was pretty exercised about it, in fact. He said it was the opposite of sportsmanlike and the ump and ref ought to be shown the door for handling the incident so poorly.

arky-tennis 01-25-2006 08:16 PM

kiefer: WHAT AN AS S HOLE!!! he should be defaulted for that stunt and the ref and umpire should be on the same plane.
