Badly twisted ankle
I sadly twisted my ankle yesterday on the tennis court and is feeling not good at all. I was playing a tournament match on a hard court which had little pellets on it so you were able to slide. However, as I regrettably found out, there were some areas on the court where the pellets were gone. As a result I started sliding and all of a sudden when the pellets were gone my foot abruptly stopped and I badly twisted it :( Only played 3 games and the match was over for me.
Can anyone give me some advise on what best to do so I can start playing as fast as possible? I am aware that I'll be out for a couple of weeks, but you know tennis, it is so hard to resist stepping on that court and playing some balls.
Ice, elevation, a light ace bandage, anti-inflammatories (motrin) until the swelling goes down.
Then, alternating heat and ice.
Depending on how many ligaments that you tore (if any) you may be back anywhere from weeks to months. Listen to your body and try to resist the temptation to come back too early.
If you experienced excruciating pain when you put you foot to the floor getting out of bed the next day, you may be out for months.
