Those shoes probably just have different cosmetics than the regular ones.

I think anyone can customize there shoes. Something to do with NikeLab or whatnot... you can customize colors and add words and such I believe.

It looks kinda thick to me...about another cm or so taller. How do you balance with such a think sole? Isn't your centre of gravity higher...harder to change directions and stuff?

pro athletes get their own pro edition shoes, especially in basketball and football. many basketball players just get shoes w/ their own custom colorway and their name and number stitched on the shoes, but there are also pros who have shoes modified and made just for them, such as Rasheed Wallace of the Detroit Pistons. he wears air force 1 mids, but his have a special air zoom cushioning system, and some other features that do not come w/ the AF1s that you get in everyday stores.

there was a thread with this picture in it. Someone said that those shoes are the same as normal with a clay court sole. hope this helps

the clay court sole does make it extra thick, but not as thick as those shoes. Itis pretty safe to say they are more cushioned than stock ones, especially due to nadal's foot injuries. He probably wants to make sure he keeps his feet as comfortable as possible and to prevent injury

I'm suprised it took this long to bring up his foot injury in this thread...Wasn't it Martina Hingis who took of so much time for that foot injury, basically retired (or it was the venus and serena injury lol)...There was also someone else who had custom molds to their feet, maybe Federer. Oddly enough, if Martina was wearing Nike, then all the greats foot injuries are due to Nike shoes lol jk ;)

he has extra padding 'cause of feet problems i think, and they come with clay soles already

yeah...don't forget about that foot injury he had earlier, which forced nike to give him custom soles.
