Federer's Racket

I was wondering..... is Federer really using the NCode Tour 90 or a ProStaff Tour 90 with a paint job?

david aames 07-06-2004 08:59 PM

There is a whole section on this board dedicated to Pro Players' gear and another one for racquets alone. The question has been beaten to death over there.

I would assume it is an Ncode since he is having more pop in his serve as of late. He served like 133 at Wimbledon. He never served this big before.

PS 85

*TEARS HAIR OUT*

It's clearly not a PS 85!

Slightly customized ncode, pretty sure he's had some sort of switch!

Chanchai 07-07-2004 07:15 AM

I thought the insiders' words have been that Fed uses a racquet that's in a way a custom build, based on the PS 85, but comes out with a head size around 90 sq. in? Basically, built similar to, but with a different custom mold as, a PS 85. And I'm guessing heavier than stock for sure.

BTW, I like both the PS 85 and Tour 90 stocks myself :) Haven't tried the N-Code yet. In the end, shouldn't really base your racquet decisions on what pros use, especially if you probably have to go through insane lengths to get what is exactly tailor made to what they seem to want. But I guess there will always be that "pro-fan connection."

But if he's switched to a customized, yet essentially N-Code--Right on! If not--Right on! 8)

I bet it's an N-Code just like we could buy. If Roger is the potential GOAT he doesn't need a custom racket. And I'll bet Roddick's PD+ is exactly the same as mine except for the string and amount of lead tape :)

Chanchai 07-07-2004 09:24 AM

Keep thinking that kid.... as long as it gives you more confidence and faith in your racquet, I guess that's good for your game ;)

Confidence is a big part of tennis :)

Federer uses a PS 85.

BreakPoint 07-07-2004 11:59 AM

Federer uses a PS 6.0 90. I'm pretty much convinced of this. No Tour 90s nor nSix-One Tours for him.

Feņa14 07-07-2004 01:26 PM

It is a totally custom job, I think thats certain as said by inside imformation.

It is closest to a PS 6.0 90 but still different, and a box beam version I think.

Can you still call it a horse when it's been beaten beyond recognition?

ProStaffTour90 07-07-2004 04:17 PM

What width beam does the PS 6.0 90 have???

The ncode he uses was designed for him, and so his racquet is only slightly modified from the one we could buy! I THINK

I'm not sure what he uses, but i AM sure he doesn't use a PS 85!

The string pattern is different

Chanchai 07-07-2004 08:39 PM

It's well beyond glue and pig feed now.... There should be some term for what goes on beyond beating a dead horse.... Kicking a dead horse in the nads?

Anyways... Yeah... this conversation won't cease... One of those things that's gonna go on and on and on and on....

But at least people aren't asking for the specs for Agassi's sandhill :P But for anyone out in Oregon, there's an insane sandhill that's excellent for running in a place called Pacific City 8)

Its a PS 85, get it into your dumbskull, pls!

ProStaffTour90 07-09-2004 04:24 AM

Ok this kid just took it to a whole new level with the raised voice (i imagine it was a raised voice)

Please explain to me how Roger is playing with a PS 85 when his racquet and the PS 85 have different string patterns!

Please answer in a civilised manner

Feņa14 07-09-2004 05:47 AM

Also i'm pretty sure it's a 90sqi head size, and not an 85sqi head.

But then again, it's difficult to tell with all the paint it must of had on it!

I have changed my mind, looking at recent pictures I am convinced it is a POG OS Longbody.

Federer's racquet is a PS 85. Please provide a clear picture showing a different string pattern.
