The thing I'm worried about with poly crosses is that they'll die much much faster than a full gut bed. I know it'll help keep the gut power in check, but longevity of the gut is a bigger concern...

I've bit the bullet, caved, and bought a pack of Babolat VS gut just to say I've tried it. Because i normally use a full bed of poly, i'm wondering if a full bed of gut will simply be too unusable...
