I have never had this problem with my Klippermate; I've read about it often over the years. Honestly, I think I cleaned the gripper on my KM once in over 20 years and it didn't really need it then....

I guess I have to break down and buy a starting clamp sometime. I've been stringing now for 21 years and have never used one. I am sure they are valuable but I can vouch for the fact that they are...

With the Klippermate and a starting pin, you do not pull tension on two strings at the start of a job. When starting the crosses on a two piece job, you might pull two strings but there are ways...

Just must be different around here. Even at PGA Superstore, which has a large tennis section and two Star 5s, the machines are seldom being used when I'm there. I occasionally see one in use but have...

Maybe I'm missing something Irvin. Most of that $12/hour is paying the person, not paying for the stringing machine. Beyond that, I don't see the big box stores keep the machine busy 4 hours a day, 7...

I would add that my fast times are with synthetic only. A hybrid of poly and syn, which I seldom do because I don't like it, pushes me up to 35-40 minutes.

My average time with familiar frames is 25-30 minutes. I've done a little better. However, I've strung on the KM for 20+ years. The KM is not slow by nature; learn to weave well and you can string...

Agree. My Klippermate is like a family member. It's over twenty years old and I am very, very proficient on it. I don't mind the clamps at all. I have access to a Neos also. I can most certainly move...

Certainly no one will ever make you use a starting knot. That being said, there's nothing at all wrong with a properly tied one. We argue over the most meaningless things. I think I'll start a thread...

I have used starting knots on all two piece jobs I've done over 20 years of stringing. I have never once had a problem with one nor have starting knots damaged any racquets to my knowledge. I...

No you don't understand drop weights. The rotation of the gripper or cam has nothing to do with how much or little tension is being applied. The target tension is being applied when the bar is...

Okay, I give up after this. In the poly example, 50 lbs. of tension is being applied and the string is not stretching or elongating. With a multi with the arm at horizontal, 50 lbs. of tension is...

If you allow enough slack that the bar stops above horizontal, give it a little more. If it goes past horizontal, take up a little slack. As you have said, poly is not very elastic; it will not...

Sorry but that makes no sense. On a drop weight, the physics says that if the arm is at horizontal, the set tension is being exerted via the gripper, cam, etc. How much "pulling" was involved in...

The pulling process is irrelevant; only the ending position really matters. When the arm of the machine is at horizontal, it is applying the set tension to the string. You clamp at that point and...
