I honestly always stay with my normal size. Others on this board have suggested you go up a half size for the CB 2.3 though.
For me, the CB fit fine length wise, it was just the width that killed me.

As far as your serve, without a video, it's really hard to say. But for me, the biggest problem I had to overcome was an inconsistent toss.
