Doesn't sound like much of a disparity in skill set between 3.5 and 4.0 if you were just beat by two 3.5s....unless you mean in the opposite direction? :-?
Perhaps, you're not quite as strong a 4.0...

The title here is misleading. It should be 3.5 (or maybe 3.0) losing to 3.5's. If you can't beat 3.5's and in particular a 3.5 woman, you're certaintly not 4.0 and probably a low 3.5/high 3.0....
