I got to use this device at the GSS Symposium last month, and it's kind of neat: it does remove the friction from pulling the crosses through, but you can't apply tension to the string with the tool in place, so you're not losing the majority of the frictional losses from crosss string installation. I wish the folks at Stringway would modify it so you could apply tension with it in place: there is a tool out there that will allow it.
I agree with YU: after using it, I don't think it will add any speed to my job, and the saving in frictional losses is going to be pretty small.
