She made it to the Quarters of the AO, and pushed the No.1 player (Clijsters turned No.1 the next week) to three competitive sets. Dementieva isn't held back by her serve, and it isn't as well placed as Hingis's. Players are not jumping all over it like people were predicting before she started this year. There has NOT been great advancement to the womens game since Hingis's time. Sure, some of the players can bash baseline-to-baseline a little harder, but is thats not a major advancement.
What more does she need to accomplish before this is not seen as such a detriment?
