Coaches across the board, at least the ones I deal with, were tired of hearing from weak players boasting that they had national exposure and were ranked in the high hundreds, as they sucked. It has been a common complaint for years. The current system is certainly not perfect, but it solves these coaches complaints. The top DI coaches now really get to see the cream; home schooling to point chase disappears so weak players can't inflate their ranking; and sectional events now become totally important and regional competition becomes paramount, as academic competition is with regard to the admission process at the elite institutions.
