When someone becomes a celebrity and very rich, there will be people trying to squeeze some money/fame out of him. Some do it by blackmailing from the past, some do it by trying to shame them (like the case here), some actually hatch elaborate schemes to grab the money. Not too long ago, there was a white-collar gang in LA whose members would physically collide with celebrities in public places and try to provoke a fight or claim medical expenses from injuries, and there was a network of doctors handling out bogus medical certificates about these people.
