Luxilon Adrenaline Rough 1.25mm / Yonex Tour Super 850 1.30mm
I've strung this setup before as it's what I string for rdis10093 in real life. The Adrenaline Rough is a perfect mix of ALU Rough and Adrenaline. It's got that odd bumpy texture like ALUR, and coils up like a viper like Adrenaline does. Overall, nothing terrible. I hinted at in the last review that OGSM is one of the easiest strings to string: a top 5 for sure. Yonex 850 is easier. If I had to make a top 3 easiest strings to work with it would be, in order:
1. Pro Supex Maxim Touch
2. Yonex 850 16
3. Gosen OGSM
It just glides through everything so easily, no risk of breaking it, even though it ghosts a bit you can't tell due to its color, and it just feels extra soft. Even though his racquet has 20 crosses, needless to say, I don't really mind! Strung at 52/55lbs.
Have to be honest: this isn't for me. It has a very unusual feel. The crosses are incredibly soft, but the Adrenaline has a boardy feel. So, what you're left with is a board on springs. Spin is fairly good, and power is good as well. Regardless, it has the Lux feel that I don't care for. Others may, however.
More of the same here. There is quite a bit of power, however. Slice serves work admirably, for one thing. But as an overall serving setup, this still doesn't feel right.
This is too soft to give high marks for feel, and too stiff feeling for touch. I'll explain more below.
The Lux took two hours to settle as rdis10093 did mention. That's far too long for me, because by that time, the Yonex was incredibly frayed.
I don't have too many deep thoughts about this setup. I don't think that these strings are complementary, and that's about it. Think about a trampoline where the mesh is made of steel. So, you have a stiff plane which can move on springs. That's the sort of feel I get here: stiff and unyielding feeling, but with a mushiness that's just not for me. I think a stiffer cross would be ideal with Adrenaline Rough.
