NCAA Teams & Location
Based on what we see below I'd say either Cal or Stanford (probably Cal) is going to get passed over as a host because I don't see the NCAA having 5 west coast teams host when there are only 12 teams that will make the field on the west coast. If 5 were chosen to host that means 8 teams would have to travel across the country which is 4 too many. The NCAA has used travel distance in the past to determine sites. That's why Ole Miss got the shaft a few years ago - NCAA thought it'd be closer to send Rice to LSU than to Oxford so they all got sent to LSU. When the final regular season rankings come out tomorrow there could be some movement but I wouldn't think a ton - Illinois should jump several spots.
My best guess for 1st/2nd round hosts:
Cal & Tennessee passed over.
(Bold teams are currently in Top 16)
West Coast Teams: 12 teams/4 hosts/0 travel
Southeast Teams: 18 teams/6 hosts/0 travel
East Tennessee State
South Carolina State
Middle Tennessee State
College of Charleston
Mid-West Teams: 11 teams/2 hosts/3 teams travel
Southwest Teams: 8 teams/1 host/4 teams travel
Univ Texas-San Antonio
Univ Missouri-Kansas City
Atlantic Coast Teams: 15 teams/3 hosts/3 teams travel
