Lendl's win over McEnroe in the 1984 French Open final silenced the criticism of Lendl for a while, but it started to come back in the fall of 1984 and into 1985 as McEnroe was the dominant player on the tour. The criticism of Lendl's record in winning majors got louder still after Wilander beat Lendl in the 1985 French Open final and when Leconte embarrassed Lendl at 1985 Wimbledon.
