He changed his game to volley more, etc. Its actually odd he could not win it considering that he was not a bad volleyer, had a big serve and moved well. I think the problem was that he played in an era with great natural volleyers and the grass was very fast.
However, its a much slower and different game now and I think I see more S&V at RG than Wimbledon.
Everybody played serve and volley at Wimbledon before 2002 (well aside from Agassi who was the best natural ball striker ever but he's a special case), it was the percentage play due to the way grass was.
