The other thing to keep in mind is that if you're not having more attacks, you're probably OK, but if your joint is constantly sore and your blood uric acid content is above 6, you could be growing crystals in your joints without knowing it. Then when you get on the UA lowering drugs, the crystals dissolve, which causes the mother of all attacks. The more you build up, the worse it is when you fix it. After you get through that, life can go back to normal, except for you take a pill every night.
The joint is not constantly sore. Every now and then mainly when I drink a beer, I feel a little throbbing. I may end up on the medicine one day but I'm trying to avoid it if I can.
