I always get chuckle out of people that think a racquet "explodes" on the machine if it cracks. It's not nearly as exciting as that. Usually it's just a crunching noise or a pop. Nothing spectacular. You don't need to wear safety glasses or be afraid that graphite is going to fly across the room. The graphite tends to want to stay together due to the way it's layered.
