Drinking extra water during the day is not necessary for those with desk jobs in climate controlled offices.
The initial medical recommendations for drinking fairly large amounts of water during the day are historical.
They date from an era when more toiled in the hot sun in agriculture or in "sweat shops" in manufacturing.
Let your thirst be your guide in how much to drink if you work in an office.
