Truth is, not everyone is meant to be skinny and lean.
I think a look back on his family history with the disease will give a more complete story. His mother or father, or even his grandparents could have (had) the same disease Mardy does.
I don't think his weight loss had a direct impact on his bad heart, although over exerting himself in order to maintain his level of fitness may be an underlying cause. Mardy did get incredibly thin, and when you get so thin you don't have much body fat, it starts eating away at your heart. His diet may need to be looked at because not eating enough can cause similiar problems, but I believe it's an inherited disease.
