Roddick wasn't in decline. He was 26 and playing at 200% in that tournament, coming within a hair's breadth of the winning the whole thing. A 19 Murray schooled a 23 year old Roddick in 2006.

Roddick reached #1, but in a weaker era, and didn't keep it that long. Living in Federer's shadow aside, Roddick always had a very inconsistent career. Since 72 only five players have reached more consecutive Grand Slam quarter finals than Murray, only three have reached more consecutive semis.
