My plan for being sick has always been to train through it. When I was playing soccer in college I would suit up and go for a long run. Felt like hell the whole time but when I was done I would sleep and then feel better. No science behind it that I know of but thats what I did.
If I start feeling sick, the first thing I do is go for a run. I don't know what it is, but it seems to make the ensuing cold much more mild. My evidence for this is that everyone in the family will get the cold, but they will appear to suffer less than I do.
