Do not ice your Hip during a match, you do not want to cool down the tendons and make them more prone to injury. If the hip is tight and sore you want to keep it as warm and loose as possible during activity. I suggest using Bengay or the generic version of it which you can find in almost any store. It will relieve the pain and you can remain active. Icing is fine afterwards. I also advise you do some hip strengthening exercise because tennis is a one sided sport and an imbalance in hip strength will put you on the road to more serious injury.
