It really depends on how bad the TE or GE is. I knew some guys that could not even turn their car key without pain. The important thing is to do the strengthening and stretching excercises, and be sure to put ice on it for 10 min afterwards, and also after you play, once you start playing again. Also, you should not weight lift if you can feel any pain in your elbow, and avoid doing things that will aggravate it-like trying to open an overly hard jar lid even. When you start to recover you can train again starting with lighter weights until you get better and can progress to heavier ones.
