Default Influence of lead aside from contact point

I have a question

Is it possible that lead can influence your flow, preparation and elements aside from actual hitting the ball?

For example...on a double backhand that's almost jerky in preparation, could it force you to slow down and have a more solid, flowing movement? (even just psychologically?)

Anyone know what I'm talking about?
