Teach to slide on acrylic - as a general rule I wouldn't, purely because the paint has the sand in to create the grain and control the speed. The friction is pretty high, so unless it was a really, really slick, quick acrylic court I wouldn't teach to slide from a player safety perspective (although my guys do sometimes get wheelspin!)
Don't be upset by the results you didn't get from the work you didn't do...
