That will depend on how many rackets he is going to string. If I did not have a machine and I wanted an affordable stringer for low use it would surely be a drop weight.
If I were going to be stringing 3 or 4 rackets a day very often it sure would not be on an X2 or KM. to me that would be miserable. If I want a good travel stringer to string several rackets a weekend every once in a while then an X2 or KM would fit the bill nicely though.
There is a place and market for all kinds of stringers.
