I love people who don't make any effort to move their serve around, thinking they can just overpower me or flumox me with spin. Those are easy return games.
Moving it around definitely makes your serve tougher to return. I don't have
as much velocity as I used due to lack of practice, but I've found that
hitting serves like a baseball pitcher can generate some errors or weak
returns. Several flatter first serves and then a kick serve as a first serve
or a slice. Or a slice into the body on the deuce side.
My wide deuce side slices currently suck and I tend to leave it in the middle
and people can smack it.
