I'm wondering if Adam Silver will be David Stern's puppet, or if he can actually become his own man, and perhaps this is wishful thinking, return the league to some semblance of competitive integrity.
Cheating and corruption are part and parcel of elite athletics: it cannot be prevented completely, but what is so disgusting about stern is that he encouraged it. He was the one who engineered the system of "star calls" and revenue driven corrupt officiating that haunts the nba to this day.
Time will tell. In the meantime, the nba has become a laughing stock in the public eye. Fortunately for the nba, steroids in baseball, felony convictions in the nfl, and goon fighting in the nhl continue unabated, so the nba continues to keep it's head up even as it's descended into the sewer.
