the knee bend thing screws up a lot of players. it's not unimportant but can really throw off timing, ball toss, etc.

most players would be better served working on a motion with very minimal knee bend, and focusing more on an easy, flowing motion, repeatable toss, and leading with the hip to develop a good rhythm and get the feel of the right body weight transfer into the ball.

michael stich's motion is a great reference, not to copy necessarily, but watching his motion, i always thought it gave a great visual of what it feels like to do it right.
