Default Deaf junior player on AO

14 y.o. Lee Duck-Hee from Korea is #63 in ITF Junior Ranking lost in second round to Christian Garin(9). Sounds bit ordinary, but there is something special - this boy is deaf
http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/0...0AQ1LW20130121

They say umpire didn't know the player was deaf:
Quote:
According to the Australian Open, officials received no specific direction before the match to let them know Lee is deaf but on a number of occasions, umpire Thomas Sweeney used his hands to communicate.

Wow, that is really admirable and inspiring. Thanks for letting us know, and wish him all the luck.

Could easily beat Sharapova or Azarenka.

His coach says the boy is late for morning practices because he can't hear the alarm clock.

great story.
would be impressive if he manages to reach his objective (being in the junior top 10 at the end of the season, at 15).

Just for information - seems like Lee made his debut in Pro Circuit - played Tsukuba Futures this week, qualified and won hi first match in main draw. Lost in second round. http://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/...erid=100207471
