Well he gets no "sympathy" from me if he continues to play on that ankle and eventually (and I don't hope so) does something catastrophic to it.
He would be wise to withdraw and rest, but i'm NOT in his shoes so...... |

Here is info on a dislocated ankle. There could be long term effects, so he'll need to be careful.

If he wins Monte Carlo or reaches the finals and loses with a decent scoreline, he will definitely be classified as a faker.

Marijan Vajda has just done an interview on Sky Sports and he says the ankle is getting better and better. Today he says he has had his best practice the pain is manageable and he should be able to move well today. Make of it what you will.

This seems much worse than simple tendinitis.

Taking a line from Nadal's book of play I see.
When can we expect Novak to have his foot put to sleep? |

He didn't say he had a dislocated ankle - he said he had a dislocated bone in his foot. If his ankle was dislocated he wouldn't have been walking.

But why would you care since you rather see Nadal being the #1.

Yes Batz, but I'm not certain what the difference would be though between a "dislocated ankle" and a "dislocated ankle bone". IF he actually had a dislocated bone in his ankle, it looks like it'll take a while to recover and he could be prone to injure it again. Maybe something got lost in translation or perhaps his coach mispoke. None of us is actually looking at his medical records and imaging. It looks at the very least like a severe sprain, so I just don't see why he's playing this event quite frankly. I agree that if you're not "fit" you don't play, even though all players play with nagging injuries. This seems more serious than just a minor tweak but who knows without seeing the actual test results. I hope he bounces back from it fully though as we approach the French Open.

He's moving well enough at the moment. Either the injury was never that serious or he's keeping it effectively in check with painkillers!

Yes very true Mainad. Maybe lots of painkillers are getting him by and perhaps the injury is not at a big risk for further damage now. He is moving decent so far, but I just don't see why he wouldn't at least take an extra week or so. Early in the Monaco match, the commentators were mentioning that he was moving a bit gingerly, not sliding into shots the way he normally would. That does not seem like someone purely "acting" to me, although he can be very emotive at times, both in victory and when injured.

Djokovic will be fine. Nadal has played with a broken bone in his foot for 8 years and has won at least one slam per year.
