I recently have seen the light. After demo-ing several racquets I have decided to switch to a RDS 001. I am picking my newly strung racquet up this afternoon.
I also have ordered a RDX 500 MP for my wife, so we will be a Yonex family. I think, with all of the Yonex lovers on the boards, we need a place we can call our own. This will allow those searching for the light to easily research the Yonex racquet line. |

awesome. i'm an rd ti-80 user here.
i switched to yonex from wilson and i've really liked their line of products. the sweetspot is huge, racquet plays bigger than its stated headsize and very spin friendly for all those topspin users out there. |

I too am considering a switch from Wilson to Yonex. I like the sound of the RDX mid. I like the RDS specs but I just can't swing that paint job.

Another Yonex user here. Started tennis using Yonex, after doing very well with their racquets in badminton - couldn't imagine using anything else for tennis. I've gone through the MP Tour-1, RDX-500MP and now I'm using the Ti-80. Could not be happier

I have to agree the paint job is very loud, but I hit it so well, I'll have to just play with some shades on! I do love the feel of the RDX500 also, since my wife will be using it we can swap every once in awhile. We need someone that is good at desining to make us a avatar or signature to show our love for Yonex. Here is the list so far: jdeloach - #001 |

Thoughts on the Ti-80? Compared to RDX?

in regards to the rd ti-80 to the rdx500 mp:
the rd ti-80 is a lot stiffer than the rdx500. the rdx500 is a LOT more powerful and forgiving than the rd ti-80. the rdx500 is crazy with topspin, a little too much for some ppl, but it's awesome for players who hit with 90% topspin. the rd ti-80 also has a "tinny" feel, as described on this board, but a dampener should fix it. i have never strung my rd ti-80 above 60, so i'm not sure if the dampener works with anything above 60 lbs. the rdx500 has a buttery feeling - for those ppl who like that feeling. the rd ti-80 is also noticably better on flat serves and overall volleying, but the rdx500 is better for spin serves. the rd ti-80 also has it's weight distributed among three parts of the racquet, so you can literally feel the racquet if you hold it loosely in your hand. the rdx500 on the other hand has most of the weight in the handle - it's really light when you hold it loosely. both are good racquets - but remember that if you use an rd ti-80 that any gripsize 4 1/2 above has a higher swingweight than ones with smaller grip sizes. i've only demoed the rdx500, so i can't say anything about it - hopefully, some other board members with talk about it *my comments are in regards to the rdx500 MP, not the MID - i have never used the rdx500 mid, nor am I at the level when i can use a mid well - so hopefully, another more experienced board member can help you. |

WOW!!! Just thought I would tell you guys. I put a Vantage Leather Grip on my RDS last night, and just got back from hitting with it.........man it feels great!!! You can really feel the ball better. I highly recommend giving it a try.
Plus it gives it an "old school" meets "new school" look.

hey, only one way to find out
Quote:
i tried the babolat PD way back at the beginning of the summer, and the only thing it was better than the rds 001 mp was serving. other than that, the yonex is much more comfortable, spin-friendly, and has great feel, and a lot more control than the PD. the only thing i liked the PD for over the rds was its stability. the downside was that after playing for 5 minutes my shoulder was killing me, so i switched back to the rds and the pain was gone. i think you'll like the rds |
