Forget the K90, PS6.0, Prestige, or Pure Drive. It's time the Radical enthusiasts get together to discuss and share set-ups, reviews, suggestions, pics, etc.

the new radical tour is nice. I hit with it for about 5 minutes. can't tell you much, but it's definitely a solid, stable racquet.

I've hit with both, but the microgel radical was what I was talking about. THere is a tour version and a regular version. I found the tour version to feel very solid and stable. didn't have time to hit with the other frame

Can't wait for those to come out and give them a spin, but they'll have to be above and beyond my Limited Editions. I love my LE's.

How was the weight on the regular version. My biggest beef with the modern radicals has been their weight. Bring back the 12+ ouncers.

The fxp weighs in at 11.3, with the new Microgel going at 11.1 - very close in playability.

Too light for me. Anything under 12 oz. feels like a toy. I was playing with the LM radicals before the LE's and I think the LM's were 11.2 or so. They just weren't stable enough for my style or level of play. I tried adding lead, but it never felt right.

I just got a pair of LM Radical MP's and got to hit with them this weekend. I liked it, not sure whether I will go back to the MG Extreme Pro. I found I was able to generate plenty of spin. My slice backhand had more bite than with the Extreme Pro. I found it had plenty of power, I cut the Head synthetic gut out and put strung it with Genesis Spin X 16g (M) and Gosen Micro 17 syn gut @ 48# X 54#. I'll see how this works.

I posted a thread for this, but I haven't gotten a response yet. Maybe I posted it in the wrong place and I should have posted it here.

Is the playability different between the different versions of the Radical MP? I have the specs and see differences mostly between the stiffness and swingweight. The beam on the YouTek is also .5mm wider (21.5mm compared to 21mm for the rest)

ex.
Racquet
Stiffness Swingweight Balance

YouTek Radical MP
59 324 2pts HL

Microgel Radical MP
57 315 2pts HL

Flexpoint Radical MP
63 330 2pts HL

Liquidmetal Radical MP
64 325 4pts HL

How do the different racquets compare?

I think SW and stiffness are noticeable. However I always add lead so cannot comment on stock SW. Rads are good platform for mods. They play big but are light on refer to this comment.

It's a control racquet so you supply the juice.

LM cheap price. Great balance. Basic feel. Teardrop hoop is sweet up top. You can add leather or CAP it. Great serving. The rolled beam and full stringbed mean super slices and sharp in the air up at net. Touch. Stiffer and can be jarring with full poly.

FXP noticeably heavier swinging (see balance), thought smaller sweetspot, but hits a bigger ball. Worst serve. Thought holes silly. Passed on it.

MG has me hooked. I have lead at 12, at grip top, and in butt. Much easier swinging, bigger sweetspot than all. More spin than prev. Flexier and can actually deliver best serve. Not huge kickers but fast nasty slice serve. Much better feel communicating max touch. Plays big for such a lightweight. Responds well to quality strings. Price down. Fantastic.

Haven't played the YT yet (not in Aus), looking fwd. ps. look for Kal-el posts on the Rads here

Hello,

I am new at TT, and recently bought IG Radical Pro x2, can I become a member in here?
I am impress with the power delivered without sacrifing the control.
I am a little bit cautious in the pro shop at first when I feel that it is not enough head light for me. Boy, I was wrong, good control and it helps me getting deep ball.

I do need to adjust my swing coming from my Yonex Vcore 95D, usually I am forcing my swing to get the depth I want for my ball, with RadPro I need to ease my swing and just relax a bit as the racquet can produce enough power for me.
Good for me, less exhaustion and can concentrate in my control.
Cheers

Doc have you ever hit with the 1998 Radical? I'd love to get my hands on one just to compare. So far that's the only one missing from my early-Radical collection.

Yeah I owned a few. It was the same racket as the 1995, but just new cosmetics. If there was a difference I never noticed it, as I had the 1995 version and the 1998 version during my HS days. I don't think many were produced though as the Ti. Radical was released shortly after I believe. The 1995/1998 model was the best radical though. Amazing control and stable. If I would have been stronger in HS, I probably would have never switched to the Ti. Radicals. Wish I still had mine.

Good to hear that the 95 and 98 are similar. I had two of the 1995 Radicals (MP and OS) but I traded the MP for a Trisys 260 MP.
