Default Advice on Roscoe Serve

I have been told by numerous pros that I have the Roscoe Tanner serve.. I hit the ball as it is rising, instead of letting it drop and then hitting it.. I don't feel that I am getting full extension, but I have been doing this so long, I am having trouble slowing the motion... Any recommendations ?
