Funding levels in Division I conferences

On tennisrecruiting.net, you can see that some top conferences recruit pretty much exclusively from the ranks of blue chip ********, 5-star ********, and international players. Some lesser conferences have most of their commitments from 2-star and 3-star ********. Examples include the Atlantic Sun conference,
Big South conference, etc.

I am wondering if that means that 2-star and 3-star ******** actually have a chance at some scholarship money, or if it just means that these lesser conferences are getting 2-star and 3-star ******** because they have almost no money to offer in the first place.

By the way, I contacted the moderators several weeks ago about the ridiculous bug in their software that censors out the word r-e-c-r-u-i-t-s. Does anything around here ever get fixed? It cannot be any harder than simply editing a file that contains words to be censored, and removing this word. Are they simply too lazy to do this?

the lower conferences will recruit 2* and 3* b/c many times they are the obscure colleges that most top ******** will shun. Many times these colleges will still offer the 4.5 or 8 schlolarships, but since they are not Flagship State U. many top players will snub them, hence the reason for foreign players willing to take the scholarships.

I previously worked on staff for a Division 1 school and I believe they have 4 or 4.5 scholarships for eight players. In Women's Div 1, however, they have 8. Perhaps they have changed that, but the scholarships for men's tennis are very scarce.

I knew plenty of Top ranked NCAA players who had little or no scholarship while at school. Just depends on how deep the team is.

Some things to remember, if you're a guy:

First and foremost, don't neglect your grades in high school. There's lots of money to be had via academic scholarships, grants, etc.

Second, don't forget about other scholarship opportunities like FastWeb.com. You can register to receive updates on all sorts of scholarships that are available.

Third - there is actually quite a bit of tennis scholarship money out there that you might be able to take advantage of simply by having an open mind. Forget about the big name schools. Look at some of the lesser known D1 and D2 colleges. You might be pleasantly surprised...
