I have had it with these balls. These are the Penn atp balls with 4 in a can.
These were my balls of choice when the container looked like this: ![]() However, for some months now, the packaging has changed. THe lid is now golden and the quality of the balls have gone down the toilet. First of all, in every can there is at least one dud. WHAT AM I BUYING A 4 CAN PACK FOR IF I CAN ONLY USE 3?????? Secondly these balls DON'T BOUNCE. I play on hardcourts for goodness sake. These balls make me feel like I am playing on slick grass. THe balls were never like this until they changed it. THEY SUCK ***!!!

Try the Wilson 4 packs, they are fine for hard courts.

I've played with these balls recently, and they were fine.

Penn are such low quality... training/coaching balls have better bounce and play life.
I too will add my warning to stay away from Penn. |

My favorite ball hard court or clay is Prince. The clay court version I can only buy online.

I played a travel match yesterday and used those balls. Agree, they were not good. I use these exclusively on my every day matches and recommend them highly:

I am switching to these balls. I used to play straight Dunlops but then most of the guys who play matches bring Penns which seem lighter and I end up hitting many balls long.

I've been a hardcore Wilson US Open ball user and have bought them by the case. But, for USTA (Team Captain) I was given a case of the Penn ATPs with the gold caps for match balls (Home Team use) and really like them. They seem to last much longer than the US Opens these days.
Is it just me or are balls almost like the soup of the day? They seem to rotate as to who is making a good ball at any given time. And Jolly, I do agree on the Dunlops, we call them Dunrocks for a reason.

I think this is the case. I used to play Dunlops, but the quality went down (and my girlfriend at the time didn't like hitting the heavy rocks like I did). I always liked Wilson, but a few years ago they would hardly bounce at all most of the time. Switched to Penn, but now they often seem to go dead much faster than they used to. Wilson US Open seemed to be higher quality than others and last longer, now they don't seem to be much different. Now happily using regular hard court Wilsons since they bounce fine again these days.

The Penn ATP I think are soft n' heavy. The felt fluffs up nicely unlike Dunlops or Wilson's. I love them.
Dunlops don't fuzz up and are very hard but keep their pressure the best. I have a drawer of old balls that I keep for the puppy, the Dunlops don't lose much pressure whereas the Penns and Wilson do.

I like Penn ATPs and Wilson US Opens. I will happily play Pro Penns or Regular Penn Championship.
With a good partner, I have gone through two cans of Penn Championships in 45 mins, but who can complain at 2 bucks a can? J

Yup, these in extra duty are my favorite hard court balls too. Slazies at two.

I've gone through a case of the Penn ATP with the gold lid like the picture above and I never had any problems with them whatsoever. They do feel like they bounce low after first coming out of the can but within five decently hard hits they liven right up.

I used to use Penn Championship, extra duties, but hitting with my bud Dennis they go dead 2 cans in 45 mins and they are shot.
So I switched to the ATPs like Lendl posted the pic of, and they are a bit better. I don't like the Dunlop balls, so I use only the Penn ATP or the Wilson US Open. Mostly the ATPs. J
