Question Which injury do you think would most likely send a tennis player into retirement?

When you hear of a tennis player being injured, which injury rings alarm bells in your head the most in conjunction with retirement?

Use anecdotal evidence if necessary to support your answer (although this is not compulsory, it is suggested).

I know, but I'd like to get an idea of which stands out ahead of the rest, so narrow it down to one if you can.

The surgical level in each case, so if a tennis player was reported to have had surgery in each area, which would be deemed most serious?

Torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament can keep a player out for up to a year.
Its usally the niggly little injurys that have complications that take forever to get over, like moyas foot injury that caused him to retire.

The injury that would be the most career killing would be a torn Achilles, an athlete is never the same after that.
For tennis the shoulder surgery is a damaging one, as well.
ACL tears are obviously serious, but most athletes are able to come back from those at near 100%.

I did that playing football. It was f***ing agony!
Jarred my heal on the grass, felt this lightning bolt pain and I'm sure, momentarily, I squealed like a pig.
Foot came up black and blue and that was me, out for 6 months.

True that.

The back is very important, once you have a serious injury there, it might end your career.

I've had my ACL reconstructed. Back on the court getting some coaching to get back into it, and starting league and social as well.

After 10 months, the knee is as good as new. The recovery is mainly psychological after that.

I don't think anyone has won a GS after hip or shoulder surgery.
