Default Federer's walking to the no1 spot has just begun !

I made some calculations after IW final and realize that how much roger has a chance to regain no1 spot just after the shanghai.

So if there something wrong please correct it.

Djokovic (12.670): he has 9.320 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Nadal (10.175): he has 8.325 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Federer (9.350): he has 3.540 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Murray (7.450): he has 5.990 points to defend till the end of the Shanghai.

Whats your thoughts about his chance ?

Did the other thread get deleted?

I think his chances are not bad at regaining no.1 for a short while, but ending the year as no.1, that will go to whoever creams the Majors the most, in likelihood.

I agree. To finish the year as the no1 he have to repeat his last year end performance.

However, if he can regain the spot he might finish strong as well. It depends on mostly Us open and Wimbledon.

Yeh, well Roger is very confident right now and if he can sniff no.1 it might spur him on to some great things. He still needs a Slam, though. I'm liking his proficiency on serve and his no nonsense aggression, and he is certainly stamping his authority onto matches. At the same time, he's also moving very well and making some incredible gets and turning more points around from disadvantageous positions than he was before his run started in Basel last year. I actually think he's moved up another half level in form in comparison to what it was during his hat trick of titles at the tail-end of 2011.

I think Roger's first goal is to get the number 1 for just 2 more weeks so he can get the record (he is at 285 weeks and Sampras is at 286 weeks). After that he might reset is sights for a year end number 1 - but first things first.

Way too early to say, IMO.

I'm just shocked that Federer has won 3 consecutive tournaments. That's already enough enjoyment for me, so I'm trying not to expect too much. One tournament at a time.

Exactly how I feel. Let's not get ahead of ourselves but what a joy these last few tournaments have been!

Its like your reading my mind. Im just going to sit back, relax, and enjoy. Try not to expect too much and just relish watching roger play well while it lasts.

I'll make it clear now that I don't expect him to do anymore than Defend his semi-final points in Miami. Anyway, we'll see what happens.

Let's look at the draw, first.

(Let me guess, Del Potro in round 4 as usual?)

Well points wise he has the most to gain and least to lose but just because he has the fewest to defend does not mean he is gonna walk to it. He needs to win at least 1 of the remaining 3 majors..likely 2 and probably prau djokovic doesnt win any and probably not make any finals. He will also have to hope he keeps making finals at least a lot of the rest of the year and that sjoker burns big. It may look possible..and it is..but I think its a long shot

I really hope not, it is getting stupid already and Del Potro is officially Roger's b-tch now. Boring!

If Fed wins one major and gets enough points from the other M1000s, he will do it. Especially if Djokodal start losing before finals.

That's what is so surprising. Federer may not have won australia, but he's pretty much swept every other big event this year. I won't say much about the FO as we know it's a long shot for him to win it, but if he does... who knows what could happen.
