Remind you of anyone? (hint: watch first vid's point and second vid's point back to back)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx8XmintxSE&t=5m52s (at 5:52) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI8phmELZ2Y&t=7m46s I'm not saying he'll win 17+ slams, but the talent is undeniable.

Only tiny difference is Fed won that match and Dimitrov choked it away.

He's like a low-rent Federer.

He just lost to Monaco 2,1, not sure how that makes him closer to Fed.

Dimitrov's forehand doesn't have that whippy motion Federer does.
A part from that, their playing styles are pretty darn close. |

It has the remnants of his obvious early effort to mimic Federer but is not even in the same ball-park in terms of go-to-ness

Lots of potential but the biggest difference is in their footwork. Dimitrov slips and slides unusually often for a top player, which is in sharp contrast to Federer's near perfect balance.

There's a pretty big disparity in racquet-head speed between the two as well. Federer's always had some of the fastest on tour, Dimitrov not so much.

A criticism that may very well be applicable to any player ever. Point is he has the talent to pull of the same shots Federer does.
Yes he has a whole lot to do to sniff Federer, but he has pieces to build on. No one's disagreeing with that. He has a better shot than Gasquet.

His serve motion is sloppy compared to Fed's also, like Djoker's for example. Arcs the back, not a ton of knee bend.
Its funny because here I am trying to think of what active players have a motion as smooth and precise as Federer but I can't think of one....

You haven't seen ugly/sloppy until you have seen Tomic's or Wawrinka's serve in slow motion. |
